Mount Pleasant board approves minutes, accepts retirement and hires new middle‑school language‑arts teacher

The board then honored the retirement of longtime educator Rhonda Lundstead, who the district said has served approximately 20½ years and will teach through the end of January; the board moved and voted to accept the retirement.
The board also approved the hire of Caitlin Bernie, who was present in the audience and is slated to start the next day as a language arts teacher at Mount Pleasant Middle School. All three actions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; the transcript records unanimous "Aye" responses but does not record a roll‑call tally by name.
The superintendent additionally asked the board to review educational governance agreements and suggested any edits be brought back at the next meeting so absent member Andy can participate in the review. No formal changes to those agreements were adopted at the Jan. 5 meeting.
