Green City adds three Green High students to design review board through student municipal representative program

Sarah introduced Green City's Student Municipal Representative program for Green High School students entering grades 10—6, describing the January application window and the interview process. "The design review board is sort of the poster child for this program," Sarah said, explaining that successful applicants are interviewed by Mayor Yergin, city staff and the clerk of counsel, Nicole Messner.

Under the process Sarah outlined, applications go live on Jan. 1 each year; students have the month of January to apply and are interviewed to match their interests with board openings. Placements begin in September and consider each senior's top choices, she said.

Sarah named the three students slated to join the design review board at the board's next meeting: Olivia Muzi and Celia Otterstetter, both seniors, and Jade Al Arda, who is new to the program. She also introduced three alumni who interned with the city over the summer: Izzy Scott, Sophia Logston and Kristen Groen, noting many interns are now in college and study law-related fields or other civic areas.

The presentation emphasized exposure and relationship-building as the program's primary benefits, not a requirement that participants pursue architecture or government careers. The board thanked Sarah and invited questions; no formal action was required on the presentation. The three student representatives are expected to appear at the board's next meeting to begin their year-long assignments.
