The council opened a public hearing, heard no speakers in support or opposition, and then a councilmember moved to defer the matter to the June 9, 2025 meeting; the motion carried unanimously.
An applicant representative identified himself as Alex Brock (law firm Smith at Gambrel Russell) and the property owner indicated willingness to honor the requested deferral. Director Song confirmed that other notification requirements will remain in place and that the sign on the property will be updated with the new council meeting date.
The deferral delays final council action until the June 9 meeting so the prospective tenant can complete due diligence; if substantive changes are requested, planning staff said they will advise whether further review by the planning commission is required.
The council did not receive public opposition to the deferral during the March 24 hearing.
