Leppler said removing the remaining plaster is necessary to preserve the structure for future sale or reuse.
Dawn (finance staff) explained the city’s total cost into the building, including the proposed $155,000 work, would be about $875,000. She said the city expects selling the building when renovations are complete to yield roughly $400,000 to $600,000. Council members discussed the building’s history as a strategic downtown investment and the rationale for completing the exterior repairs to protect structural integrity and marketability.
A motion to authorize the city manager to execute the contract passed on the consent agenda.
