Library outlines spring programming, from children’s painting to a George Washington Ball display

The Douglas Library reviewed a schedule of upcoming programs and community events.
Children’s activities: Friday morning story hours have seen light attendance. The Feb. 7 Take Your Child to the Library day drew many families with activities, giveaways and a raffle; the raffle drawing was scheduled for March 2. A painting program originally set for Feb. 7 was rescheduled to Feb. 28 and is open to all ages.
Adult and community events: Scrabble nights continue but sometimes see sparse attendance due to winter travel conditions. The board noted a new Senior Mid-Day meet-up held today that had three attendees and will meet again in two weeks. An art reception for Lynn Curtis is scheduled Feb. 20 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and a local-history talk by Katheryn Boughton held Jan. 21 will be made available as a voice recording at the library after Feb. 21.
Special events: Board President Bunny encouraged attendance at the community George Washington’s Ball on Feb. 21 and requested the library create a display for the event; Library Director Laura Moran agreed to work on the display. Other items noted in the minutes include a local author talk on April 10 and a plant sale May 16.
