Danbury commission hears enforcement updates and regulatory fee-review timetable

At the Dec. 10 meeting, staff updated the Danbury Environmental Impact Commission on several enforcement and regulatory items.
Staff said it received a memorandum from Mr. Postauer about a violation at 200 Franklin Street and that an owner of the Sayers property offered to remediate 3,000 square feet while a court order requires remediation of 25,000 square feet. The staff member emphasized the agency expects remediation consistent with the court order and requested assistance from corporation counsel to move enforcement actions forward.
Staff also said recent reports indicate waste oil dumping in storm drains on property belonging to housing authorities and others; the director of health authorized health inspectors to carry absorbent pads so inspectors can act more quickly when they encounter oil releases.
Separately, the commission’s regulatory workgroup reported it circulated a proposed fee schedule with updated terminology and received no substantive feedback, so the group plans to forward the draft (with redline) for review and expects the revised documents to be available early next year. Commissioners said they will receive a redacted copy showing deletions and insertions and that future meetings will be scheduled to complete the revision process.
Chair Matt Rose and a member moved and seconded the current slate of officers for the coming term; members approved the nomination by voice vote and then adjourned the meeting.
