Danbury council approves consent calendar including appointments, lease renewal and audit adoption

At its Dec. 4 meeting the Danbury City Council approved the consent calendar and several routine items by voice vote.
Among approvals: the council confirmed appointments to the government entities review committee (Council members Frank Salvatore Jr., Diane Lapine and Mike Henry and reappointments of Alan Boyce and Mark Corey), accepted a five-year lease renewal proposal for the duckpin bowling lanes at Hatter's Park (with a tenant option for an additional five years and $500 annual increases), and referred a proposed condemnation of a utility easement on Lombardi Street to the Planning Commission for a CGS §8-24 report and to the city engineer for review.
The council also accepted ad hoc minutes and scheduled a public hearing on a Connecticut City and Town Development Act item and, on the recommendation of the audit committee, adopted audited financial statements for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, as prepared by RSM.
During the public comment period earlier in the meeting resident Sonny Parsons urged the council to support six grants on the agenda, saying most require no local match and "they'll be funds to help improve our community." All consent items recorded in the meeting were approved by voice vote.
The council sunset most ad hocs except for the Margie Reservoir Trail Advisory Committee and then adjourned the meeting.
