The Board of Supervisors on May 5 held a public hearing and adopted a resolution to dissolve Flood Control Zone 10, a small special district on the west shore of Tomales Bay, and to transfer the remaining fund balance to the Marin Resource Conservation District (RCD).
District staff reported that Zone 10 has relied on one‑time grants and county infusions since it was formed in 1982 and does not receive property tax funding. LAFCO recommended the district consider dissolution if residents did not create a new funding source. The zone advisory board voted in 2024 to dissolve provided remaining funds could be used locally.
Staff said the transfer — about $33,564 — would fund private stream bank stabilization projects inside the former zone’s boundaries; Marin RCD indicated it would use the funds to leverage additional grant opportunities for flood reduction work along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
No protests were filed by property owners and the board approved the dissolution and funding transfer unanimously.
