The Marin County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on May 5 to reduce franchise hauling agreement fees for unincorporated areas from 15% to 13% of hauler gross receipts.
Julie Bryant, program manager for Public Works’ waste management division, told the board that the adjustment follows a two‑year reassessment of program needs and state mandates and is intended to preserve staffing and service delivery while aligning fees with current program operations. She said the change will be implemented through haulers’ annual rate‑setting processes and will leave current rates for Bay Cities and Mill Valley customers in effect through June 30, 2027.
Supervisors asked staff to return with more budget detail in future reports showing revenues, expenses and how fees are used to manage the program. The motion to adopt the two‑point reduction was moved and seconded and passed without objection.
