State plans additional bus-stop huts; five expected in Danbury, commission told

The Chair said the state plans to add seven additional "huts" in the region and that five are coming to Danbury. She said the city and the contractor have worked out who will maintain the shelters — clearing snow, removing debris and ensuring access — though she did not provide a contract or timeline.
"Five are coming with Danbury. They did work something out with the city about who's gonna maintain them," the Chair said.
The discussion noted Hart's involvement (the acting CEO of Hart had previously described adding additional shelters) and that maintenance arrangements were an explicit part of the local implementation planning. Commissioners did not vote on any transit-related item and left next steps to staff coordination with the transit agency and contractor.
The commission will monitor project updates and maintenance arrangements as they come from the city and the contracted provider.
