The Darlington Town Council voted unanimously June 4 to approve a $4.00 per‑customer fuel surcharge requested by T S Trash Services.
Sam Newlin of T S Trash Services told the council the company is asking for a fuel surcharge after 10 years without one. Council members approved the request 5‑0 and indicated the town’s trash ordinance will be amended at the board’s next meeting on July 2, 2026.
Clerk‑Treasurer Michelle Cash said routine financial reports are distributed to council members by email before meetings. The vote followed the council’s review of regular financial items, which were approved earlier in the session.
The council did not, during the June 4 meeting, publish the text of the ordinance amendment or provide an implementation date beyond the statement that ordinance language will be updated at the July 2 meeting. Additional details about customer billing and effective date were not specified and will be provided once the ordinance amendment is drafted and posted.
