Council approves event permits and a slate of resolutions; one MOU with Berkeley withdrawn

Seaside Park Borough Council approved event permits and a set of administrative resolutions at its April 16 meeting, and voted to withdraw a memorandum of understanding with Berkeley Township for separate consideration.
Council read a package of authorizations including Bike MS (May 5), a "Room to Remember" memorial (May 31), the Seaside Park Yacht Club family run (June 28) and recurring "This Is Yoga NJ" beach classes scheduled from May 23 through Sept. 6. Council conditioned approval on each organizer obtaining required Ocean County permits. For the beach yoga series, a council member noted the certificate of insurance on file expires June 1 and requested an updated COI extending to Sept. 30 before the recurring events proceed.
The council also read and then adopted a slate of resolutions covering seasonal appointments for pump-out boat operators, seasonal hires for public works and beach patrol, and authorizations for engineering services for boardwalk reconstruction (T&M Associates) and parking-lot reconstruction (Remington & Vernick). One resolution authorizing a memorandum of understanding with Berkeley Township (listed as resolution 1-92) was withdrawn from the consent package for separate consideration.
Council approved payment of itemized claims on the bill registry for March 31–April 16, 2026, and passed the rest of the resolutions (1-83 through 1-93, except 1-92) by roll call as a consent agenda.
Committee member (speaker 12) flagged the insurance gap for the yoga permit: "I just, pointed out to our clerk that the yoga only gave us a COI through 06/01/2026 ... We'll need an updated COI from 06/01/2026 through September 30." Councilors instructed staff to include that COI update as a condition of approval.
The council did not vote on any second readings of ordinances at this meeting; two ordinances were introduced for first reading.
