County staff recommend edits to community health element; commissioners urge focus on social determinants

Commissioners also urged linking the community health element more robustly to investments such as the county’s food hub and programs to increase access to healthy foods, and to include reentry and gun-violence-prevention efforts within the health policy framework. Staff said they will review the health element with the county’s health-care advisory board and bring substantive comments back to the board.
