Alachua County staff recommend incorporating 2023 parks master plan, strengthen maintenance policy

Multiple commissioners suggested formalizing 'friends of' park structures to support volunteer stewardship; staff acknowledged that community engagement lists and volunteer recruitment have been useful when renovating or developing parks.

Ed Williams, representing Alachua County Parks, said, “All of our parks have a sign right up front ... and the main number to call if you have an issue or a concern,” and added that some pavilions and larger park installations have electrical outlets and timed lighting. Williams said staff will follow up with more detail on volunteer program performance measures and operational metrics.
