Mayor updates council on pickleball courts, fiber project and community events

The mayor said the city is accepting applications for seasonal service-department laborers (CDL and non-CDL options). He announced the grand opening of four newly lighted pickleball courts and a paved, ADA-accessible walking path at the Chapel, noting the courts are open to the public and "lighted from 6AM to, I believe, 10PM." He also said the Summit County "Summit Connects" fiber ring project will enter Green on Oct. 20, with work expected to continue through the remainder of the year; yard restoration is expected in the spring.
Staff and the mayor encouraged residents to sign up for charter memberships at a discounted rate for the community corps facility before Nov. 30; the corps is also a SilverSneakers facility. The mayor listed several events including the Trick-or-Treat Trail (Oct. 18), volunteer appreciation breakfast (Oct. 25), 'Engaging Green' business event (Oct. 30), Veterans Day ceremony (Nov. 11), and a community potluck and documentary screening on Nov. 17.
The mayor closed by asking residents to consult the city's website for details and by inviting community participation in the upcoming events.
