At the close of its Aug. 5 meeting the Danbury City Council voted to enter executive session to discuss pending tax appeal cases that exceed specified litigation thresholds. The matters named in the public record were Lowe’s Home Center (63–69 Eagle Road) and NREA Casper LLC trustee (including several parcels and a 70,000-square-foot office building).
The council specified that Dan Garrick (Director of Finance), Donna Murphy (Tax Assessor), Taylor O’Brien and members of the Corporation Counsel’s Office, and any outside litigation counsel were to remain with the session. The council stated the executive session would take place in Room 3C and that no votes would occur behind closed doors; the body later authorized the resolution of pending legal matters in accordance with the closed discussion and certified funding as provided.
The motion to authorize resolution of the matters passed by voice vote; the council then adjourned. No settlement terms were read into the public record at the meeting.
