"Early estimates estimate the cost of this project being $1,600,000," the chair said, adding the city's responsibility was expected to be roughly $500,000.
Council moved and seconded to bypass the three-reading rule and adopted the resolution by roll call; the clerk recorded six yes votes and the measure passed. The resolution initiates the process to obtain bids and proceed with project planning, with work estimated to begin in 2025.
Council members asked questions about scope and longevity of the pavement work, and the transportation committee noted some stretches were paved in-house because they would not last until the next repaving cycle. The resolution does not itself award contracts; the action authorizes cooperation to pursue bidding and state coordination.
