Board extends Coliseum management agreement term to bridge ownership change

The Alameda County Board on Oct. 7 unanimously approved a first amendment to the amended and restated management agreement among the County of Alameda, the City of Oakland and the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority (the JPA) that extends the management agreement's term until either the city or county is no longer an owner of the Coliseum complex.
A representative of the County Administrator's Office explained the amendment is intended to provide continuity because the county and city have committed to sell their respective ownership interests and those transactions are not expected to close before the current management agreement expires. "The proposed amendment before you would extend the term of the management agreement through the date on which either the city or the county is no longer an owner of the Coliseum Complex," the county representative said.
No public comment was offered on the amendment. Supervisor Miley moved the item and Supervisor Fornida Bass seconded; the clerk called the roll and all members voted "Aye." The board ratified the JPA-approved amendment.
Board members congratulated Coliseum leadership and noted the vote was intended to avoid a management gap while ownership transfers proceed.
