Attorney Thomas Maslach, representing Avella’s Italian Takeout and speaking for the applicant, outlined proposed hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., predicted lunch and early-evening peaks, and described parking arrangements: four on-site spaces, a three-bay garage that effectively increases available spaces, an agreement with River Valley Oil for two to four spaces, and ongoing negotiations with the owner of 330 South Main Street for as many as five additional spaces. Maslach said the tenant has operated successfully at a prior William Street location since 2021.
Commissioners asked about signage, ingress/egress and the practical distribution of shared spaces. Maslach said signage could be provided to reduce confusion and that past use of adjacent properties has included shared parking and cross-access. A motion to approve the site-plan (SPR2025-181) was moved, seconded and passed unanimously without extended debate.
The approval authorizes the site-plan; the applicant will continue to finalize parking agreements and proceed with any subsequent building- or health-department approvals required for food service.
