The Public Safety Committee reviewed two liquor-license matters (a license transfer and a new D-1 license for a Fresh Food Deli) and discussed a proposed 2nd-amendment policing contract (20 26-R26a) to continue Flock automated license-plate-reader camera services through the Summit County Sheriff's Office.
Committee members and the law director noted privacy and data-transfer concerns raised at prior meetings and asked the law director to forward a consolidated list of suggested contract changes to the county and Flock. The law director said she had already held a video conference with the county and the sheriff's office and had shared the council's concerns; she expected the county to take the list to Flock for review but said the county could not meet the committee's timing deadline for a response that night.
Committee members emphasized they wanted privacy protections and safeguards on ownership and access to camera images while preserving the sheriff's ability to use the system for investigations such as missing-person cases. The committee plans to request time at the next regular council meeting to consider the resolution and any amended contract language returned by the county.
On the liquor-license items (TMP5409, TMP5410), the committee reported no incidents to the sheriff's office that would prompt a local request for a hearing, so it will not request a hearing at the State Liquor Board.
