COG accepts secretary’s resignation, continues external hires and names 2026 leadership

At the meeting the chair moved to accept the resignation of Katie Howell as secretary; the motion was seconded and, following roll call, the chair announced acceptance. The chair said both the treasurer and secretary positions are being advertised externally to avoid compensation conflicts with member cities and that the COG had received several applicants for the treasurer post. A candidate meeting for the treasurer was scheduled later that day, and the chair said the COG was prioritizing candidates with public‑sector finance experience.
In accordance with the bylaws for leadership selection, the chair moved and the council approved appointments for 2026 leadership: the council designated Mayor Yergin as president and named Mayor Lehi Rechter as vice president for 2026. Members offered brief remarks of appreciation for outgoing service and transition support.
