The Montgomery County Council nominated and unanimously approved Mitra Pedouim as an eligible nominee for the county Planning Board on June 24.
Councilmember Evan Friedson formally nominated Pedouim; Councilmember Fanny Gonzalez seconded the nomination. The clerk called the roll and the president announced the unanimous vote in favor. The council will transmit the appointment to the County Executive for final action; the Executive has 30 days to approve or reject the appointment.
Friedson explained that Pedouim’s professional background—experience in county government roles such as parks and permanent services, budget analysis, engineering and project management at the Maryland State Highway Administration—gives her a breadth of experience relevant to land-use, zoning and planning decisions.
The council noted the wide field of qualified applicants and thanked all candidates for applying.
