Board of Awards approves road maintenance contract for Gorman Construction

Steve Foger, the city’s purchasing agent, said the city received a single responsive bid for the work and that the bidder was the incumbent. “We only received one bid that was from Allstate’s Construction,” Foger said, adding that unit prices had risen “anywhere from 5 to 17%” largely because of higher oil and material costs.
Foger moved to make the award to Allstate/DBA Gorman Construction; the motion was seconded by Mr. Garrett and carried. Foger noted the award is contingent on final contract execution.
The decision completes the procurement process for the city’s as-directed, unit-price road maintenance program for the coming year. No dissent or detailed discussion of scope or alternate contractors was recorded in the meeting record.
The board adjourned after completing the item; staff will proceed with contract paperwork and a formal agreement is required before work begins.
