Board names Adam Seville assistant principal and honors staff and officers; community members remember Latonya "LT" Lloyd

The Piedmont Unified School District board confirmed the appointment of Adam Seville as Piedmont Middle School assistant principal at its April 15 meeting following a staff‑led selection process.

Superintendent and panel members described a multi‑stage hiring process with 34 applicants and a shortlist of four; the board approved the appointment by motion and vote. Seville addressed the board, thanked colleagues and said he looked forward to supporting students during a period of staff turnover at the middle school.

Earlier in the meeting the board recognized Officer Hugo Diaz for his work as the juvenile officer who regularly engages with students and staff. Board members and community speakers praised Diaz’s de‑escalation and cultural awareness, noting an incident in which he identified a religious symbol that others initially misread, helping the school community better understand the situation.

The meeting opened with multiple tributes to Latonya "LT" Lloyd, a long‑time campus supervisor at Piedmont High School who recently passed away. Amy Lee, CSEA president, and several teachers and board members recounted Lloyd’s mentorship of students, dedication to colleagues and role supporting the school office. The board and community highlighted memorial plans and opportunities for staff and families to share remembrances.

These recognitions and the appointment reflected ceremonial and personnel business that the board handled before and between substantive policy discussions during the meeting.
