Flowood aldermen approve two sign variances, hire firefighter and accept 2015 audit

On a motion by Alderman Don Flynt seconded by Mayor Rhoads, the board approved the consent agenda covering routine claims dockets (general, Refuge Golf Course, Flowood R/C Park, water-well and tank, storm drainage, Wirtz Road bike trail), a $5,025 payment to Northwest Rankin Middle School for Project Lead the Way—Gateway, a resolution authorizing the city to execute an agreement with the West Rankin Utility Authority for solid-waste collection and disposal, payment to Scott Russell for title searches, a 36-month copier lease for the legal department with RJ Young at $264.65 per month, and a $1,995 biannual maintenance agreement with RMG Install, Inc.
Deputy Fire Chief Johnny Rowland presented a personnel recommendation to hire Cameron Adcock as Private 2, Step 3 at $9.93 per hour. Alderman Flynt moved to hire Adcock at the stated rate; Alderman Harmon seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
City Clerk Joshua Carlisle presented the FY2015 audited financial statements. Alderman Dusty Rhoads moved to accept the audit report; Alderman Harmon seconded and the board unanimously accepted the FY2015 audited financial statements.
