At its Nov. 12 meeting the Mantorville City Council approved several routine and administrative actions and received staff updates on public-works issues.

Public Works and regulatory notes: Public Works Lead Joe Adams reported the culvert apron on Jefferson and 7th Street has been repaired. He identified a box scraper available for $3,800 (budgeted at $4,000) and council approved the purchase. Adams reported a Minnesota Department of Health visit and said MDH checked the Wellhouse and City Hall and discussed the State’s Lead and Copper rule; Adams reported MDH recommended the council consider passing an ordinance that would require residents with galvanized or lead plumbing to update those systems before trying to sell their homes. Adams said he has reached out to the State about engine-braking/noise ordinance signage and is awaiting further information.
Tabled security-camera policy: Council members agreed some camera coverage is needed but expressed a desire for clearer policy language; they re-tabled the item for further work.
Budget note: Council discussed the preliminary 2025 budget and indicated a target "around 7.5%" for the 2025 tax levy. Clerk Lohrbach submitted a grant application to Berne Wood-fire Pizza for AEDs for the Fire Hall. No budget adoption occurred at the meeting.
What’s next: Staff will return with recommended hours for the pickleball courts, any follow-up on MDH guidance, and usual clerical steps to certify the election canvass.
