The East Palo Alto Santeri District board reviewed and received the proposed fiscal year 2026–27 budget and directed staff to proceed toward formal adoption.
Tomo (staff, speaker 7) told board members that prior-year capital work had a $150,000 allocation but no spending; the proposed capital budget for '26–27 includes roughly $2.627 million tied to two master-plan projects. Staff also explained a contract increase with West Bay sanitary services: the current contract had a not-to-exceed amount of about $1.8 million annually, and last year's amended midyear budget rose from $1.2 million to $1.4 million. Board members asked for detail on capital carryover, the assumption underpinning a projected $7.1 million change in 2025 fund balance, and the calculation that produced a projected $24.3 million ending reserve in the next budget.
Board members moved and seconded receipt of the report; the board voted in favor to receive the budget and will return for formal adoption on June 16, per staff's timeline.
Staff said the district will present more detailed allocation and cost-allocation plan materials during the budget-adoption process; no public speakers registered comments specific to the sanitary district budget at the meeting.
