Commission recommends prefabricated restroom for Creek Palm Park, installation expected late 2025

The City of Green Planning and Zoning Commission on May 21 recommended approval of a prefabricated restroom building for Creek Palm Park, a shift from temporary porta-potties to a masonry-look concrete unit that will include running water and sewer service.

Mike Elkins, speaking for the city, described the two-piece, stamped-concrete restroom building with four individual restrooms and said the design was revised so at least one door faces the parking lot to improve sight lines and safety for parents watching children at the adjacent ballfields. Elkins said the building will be delivered in two sections that join on site and will be located east of the drop-off area where portable toilets currently sit.

Planning staff recommended the project, noting the final appearance will resemble existing park buildings and that the unit will require sanitary sewer service run through the parking lot to Creek Palm Road. On project timing, Elkins said manufacturing lead times are generally five to seven months, putting installation in the December–January timeframe.

Commissioners asked about opening hours; Elkins said park restrooms are controlled by timed magnetic locks and typically open around sunrise and close with the park (example given: roughly 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.). A motion to recommend approval passed on a roll-call vote.

Next steps: the project will move forward with permitting and utility connections; exact delivery and installation dates depend on the manufacturer’s schedule.
