The Johns Creek City Council approved a consent agenda item contracting with UNIX LLC for traffic signal maintenance in the amount of $430,000 during its Aug. 25, 2025 meeting. The item was presented as the single consent matter and passed without discussion.
Before public comment, the council recognized two local students: Jaden Evans, honored for track-and-field achievements, and Riley Evans, presented a certificate for winning the AAU Georgia State long-jump title. Mayor Pro Tem Dylan Tunkie read the commendations and praised the students’ accomplishments.
During public comment, several Johns Creek High School students — including Isabelle Lee, Ria Nahari and Nisa Srangripoor of the Gladiator Robotics team — described outreach and mentorship programs and asked the council to support a Cauley Creek Makerspace parking lot and facility that would improve accessibility for children with disabilities and provide space for robotics, summer camps and community events. The students said the makerspace has run programs reaching roughly 150 kids each summer and that improved parking and facilities would enable expanded programming.
The council took no formal vote on the makerspace request that evening; the topic was raised as public comment and will require follow-up through staff or future agenda items if pursued further.
