Huntsville approves $2.3 million contract for Ditto Landing parking to support new event center

The Huntsville City Council on June 11 authorized the mayor to enter a contract with Rogers Group Inc. for parking improvements at Ditto Landing, awarding the work at a total contract amount of $2,315,000.
Shane Davis, director of Urban Economic Development, told the council the project is included in the capital plan and will provide approximately 450 parking spaces, greenway lighting and landscaping berms along Hobbs Island Road to support the Ditto Landing event center. "The total contract amount is $2,315,000 ... our budget was about $3,000,000 so this is under budget," Davis said.
Council members noted the project supports the larger event-center and restaurant initiative at Ditto Landing and that the city previously completed sewer work to enable development in the area. The council approved the contract by voice vote.
Next steps: execution of the contract and coordination with Madison County partners for construction and parking implementation.
