Flowood rezones Pinelands parcel to PH-1, approves Latter Rayne plat and hires firefighters and laborers

At its May 16, 2016 meeting Flowood aldermen approved rezoning of parcel H11-61 to PH-1 after a hearing, adopted a final plat for Latter Rayne Part 4, approved a franchise agreement and EMS staging agreement, and hired a firefighter and two landscape laborers.
The Flowood Mayor and Board of Aldermen met May 16, 2016, and approved an application from The Pinelands LLC to rezone tax parcel H11-61 to PH-1 following a public hearing in which Mike Prestage explained the request and no opposition was recorded. Alderman Kirk McDaniel moved to approve the ordinance effecting the rezoning; Alderman Don Flynt seconded and the motion received unanimous approval of board members present.
A consent agenda approved on a single motion by Alderman Don Flynt and seconded by Alderman Kathy Smith included a paramedic training agreement, a rental agreement for the Flowood Family Festival, a resolution authorizing disposition of surplus Flowood Fire Department property, a franchise agreement with Southern Light, LLC, a resolution setting a public hearing on the Urban Renewal Plan, and authorization for the mayor and clerk to sign an agreement permitting Pafford Emergency Medical Services to stage personnel at Flowood fire stations while on duty.
Fire Chief Jeffery Welborn recommended hiring Christopher Nichols as Private II Step 3 in the Fire Department; the motion to hire carried unanimously. Public Works Director Garry Miller presented and the board approved the final plat for Latter Rayne Part 4 and approved two personnel hires for the Landscape Department: Jamie McMahon and Bryan Del Veichio, both at Laborer 2 Step 1.
The board also adopted a resolution designating Alderman Deron Harmon as the city's voting delegate to the Mississippi Municipal League with Alderman Kirk McDaniel as first alternate and City Clerk Josh Carlisle as second alternate. Jennifer Anderson provided an update on the Flowood Chamber of Commerce under Other Business; no formal action followed. The meeting adjourned after a motion by Alderman Deron Harmon.
