Christopher, representing Silver Petrucelli & Associates and REM, presented a proposal of additional services to support the library referendum and design development. He told the committee the package includes retroactive community engagement ($5,000), an additional design option ($13,200), schematic level plans ($8,500), five interior renderings ($8,200), a physical model ($13,000) and an allowance for undefined services up to $10,000 — bringing the potential total to $57,900.
Christopher said the deliverables would help voters understand design alternatives — including a potentially more modern option and alternatives such as eliminating the Hubbard Room to create a larger entry vestibule — and would add schematic plans, interior renderings and a scaled physical model to present context to the neighborhood.
Committee members thanked the presenter and discussed funding mechanics. The chair said the committee will go to the council on Monday to request restoration of the appropriated funds so the committee can proceed; Ramona confirmed the RFP for an economic impact study is ready but contingent on funding availability. Ramona also reported the purchase order balance at $7,005 and said most invoices have been paid; she will follow up with Christopher about the additional $5,000 for extra engagement sessions.
No formal committee vote was taken to approve the extra services during the meeting. The chair said the committee will keep the proposal on the January agenda for a decision about expending additional funding after council consideration. Committee members were invited to attend a council walkthrough of the library on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m. to review on‑site conditions.
