The Public Safety Committee on Tuesday reviewed TMP 5091, the annual renewal of all Class C and D retail liquor licenses in the City of Green. The committee considered an attached report from a Summit County sheriff’s detective listing licensees with recent on‑property incidents.
The detective’s report noted incidents at certain businesses but did not attribute the occurrences to the establishments’ sale of alcohol. "He doesn't believe that any of these occurrences had to do with the fact that the locations sell alcohol," the chair reported, summarizing the detective's assessment. The report referenced two incidents at Town Tavern since a change in license name, but the detective did not attribute those incidents to the serving practices of the establishment.
Given the report's findings, Chair Babbitt said she will make the motion at the regular council meeting to not request hearings for the Class C and D license renewals (TMP 5091). No formal contested hearings were requested by the committee.
What’s next: The chair will move at the council meeting that hearings not be requested for the listed renewals; any councilmember may still request a hearing at the full council if they so choose.
