The San Francisco Board of Supervisors opened public hearings on CEQA and conditional-use appeals for a proposed maintenance and facility building at 1310 Junipero Serra Boulevard and voted to continue the matters to May 13, 2025 to allow additional negotiation between stakeholders.
Madam Clerk read that items 34 through 37 concern an environmental-review exemption under CEQA for demolition of nine maintenance structures and construction of an approximately 20,000 gross-square-foot, one-story maintenance building about 25 feet high; items 38 through 41 addressed the related conditional-use authorization and associated motions.
Supervisor Rafael Mandelmann, recognizing the appeal involves District 7 constituents, and Supervisor Melgar moved to continue items 34'41 to a date certain of May 13, 2025 to give both parties time to pursue negotiations. The president opened comment specifically on the continuance motion.
Speakers during the continuance portion included counsel and representatives for St. Thomas More, who asked for additional time to negotiate with the San Francisco Golf Club, and David Greenbaum, principal of Saint Thomas More School. Greenbaum told the board the proposed nearly 20,000-square-foot maintenance building would sit "about 20 feet away" from a preschool and sought more opportunity to address safety and proximity concerns after the planning department issued a CEQA categorical exemption.
Following those comments, the board took the motion to continue the appeals and, without objection, continued the hearings and associated motions to the May 13, 2025 board meeting.
What happens next: the appeals will remain open; the May 13 meeting will include further public hearings unless the parties reach a negotiated resolution beforehand.
