Placentia council adopts revised vision statement and five strategic goals

The Placentia City Council voted on Feb. 3 to adopt a revised vision statement and five strategic goals intended to guide city priorities and staff planning.
Jeanette Ortega, who presented the draft developed with Jacob Green and Associates, read the city’s proposed vision: "The city of Placentia is dedicating to fostering transparency, integrity, and responsiveness through innovative and ethical leadership, ensuring the delivery of high quality services in a fair and equitable manner. We also strive for financial sustainability, supporting safe, welcoming neighborhoods, well kept streets, parks, and public spaces while maintaining the small town charm that defines our community." Ortega said the goals would supersede the previous vision statement adopted in 2009 and be used as a framework for future agenda reports and initiatives.
The five strategic goals presented were: fiscal sustainability; public safety; infrastructure, facilities and public spaces; economic development; and organizational excellence. The council moved to adopt the vision statement and goals as amended; the motion carried by a recorded vote of four yes and one not voting (Mayor Pro Tem/Board Vice Chair Yamaguchi).
Council members and staff said the revised statement and goals will help align future budget and program decisions with the council’s priorities.
The vision statement and strategic goals will be used as the city's guiding framework for the next several years and will inform staff reports and council agendas going forward.
