Council approves fee‑waiver requests for veterans exposition and Wilkie Wonka Day

Separately, Rob Wilkie described "Wilkie Wonka Day," a Strong4U nonprofit‑sponsored family event proposed at Hawkes Park on Dec. 20 with a kids area, raffle fundraisers and a business expo. Staff reported the event sought waivers for a $25 application fee, $250 park reservation, 4 police officers at $80/hour for 52 hours and parks and recreation staff (6 employees at $25/hour for 56 hours), for a total waiver request of $5,835. Council approved the waiver following applicant remarks describing donations, a kids fun day and local charitable beneficiaries.
Council did not record any conditions on the approvals in the meeting minutes beyond standard permitting requirements; staff deferred to council and council approved both items in roll call votes.
