The Briarwood Action Association met on Oct. 13 and handled routine business in a meeting that ran about 10 minutes.
Brandon Buehler called the meeting to order at 12:43 p.m. The board unanimously approved the Sept. 9, 2024 minutes on a motion by Greg Davis and a second from Jenni Reid. The financial report, presented by Brandon Buehler, was accepted on a motion from John Steel, seconded by Greg Davis. The utilities report was also accepted (moved by Heather Missey, seconded by Jenni Reid). The minutes record each of these motions as carrying unanimously; no roll-call votes are listed.
Operational updates included a dams report that Ultra Excavating will be cutting the dams at the end of October; Josh Brower was assigned to contact Pinson Excavating about rip-rap for the dam. The lake-and-beach report noted that the gate at the lower lake needs a new lock after the key was reportedly stolen. Greg Davis will reach out to arrange a salt order for the coming winter. The board recorded that it went into a closed session; no matters from that session were listed in the minutes.
Under new business the board noted a missing final invoice from a contractor identified as 'Murray' for a back gate repair and that the board’s CD will be renewed at First State Community Bank on Oct. 18. The meeting adjourned at 12:53 p.m. on a motion by Greg Davis, seconded by John Steel.
Votes at a glance: Sept. minutes approved (Greg Davis/Jenni Reid) — unanimous; Financial report accepted (John Steel/Greg Davis) — unanimous; Utilities report accepted (Heather Missey/Jenni Reid) — unanimous; Chicken coop rule adopted (Josh Brower/Greg Davis) — unanimous; Adjournment motion carried (Greg Davis/John Steel).
The minutes do not record extended debate, public comment, or roll-call tallies; they record assignments for follow-up (contractor contact, salt order) but do not specify deadlines beyond dates already noted.
