Library Director Julie Schaefer told the Library Advisory Committee on Jan. 28 that the Community Room will be unavailable for renovation from February through June 2026, and that use of the Conference Room will be limited during that period. The library has posted a list of alternative community meeting spaces on its website for groups seeking space while work is underway.
Schafe r said the Township Board approved Shaw Construction & Management Co. as construction manager for the renovations. The library also plans operational changes tied to the renovation: the February book sale (Friday, Feb. 6 and Saturday, Feb. 7) will be the last sale held before construction begins, and an expanded ongoing book sale will move from the circulation lobby to the Magazine Room during the work.
Julie Schaefer reported Friends of the Library events that will continue around the renovation schedule, including the Bookit 5K Fun Run on Saturday, April 25 (registration is open and Vibe Credit Union is listed as a sponsor). The Friends also sponsor periodic fundraisers and provide donations that staff said helped increase overall contributions in the recent financial report.
Because no quorum was present, the Committee did not take any votes during this informational meeting. The meeting ended at 6:59 p.m.; the Committee's next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 25, 2026.
