Chaffee council approves permits, bills and property transfers in routine Dec. 2 meeting

Chaffee’s City Council approved a series of routine motions on Dec. 2, including consent items, bill payments and two resolutions transferring tax revenue and property to the city.

Mayor Steve Loucks opened the meeting and the council approved the minutes on a motion by Councilmember Steve Milz, seconded by Danny Finley. Councilmembers then approved a building permit for a portable building at 311 S. Main St., filed by William Dysinger; the motion was made by Andy Sadler and seconded by Ron Davis.

The City Clerk presented a Republic Services invoice for $16,510.95, which the council voted to pay on a motion by Eric Seyer and seconded by Andy Sadler. The council also approved the month’s other bills (motion by Steve Milz, seconded by Danny Finley) and accepted the November Collectors Report (motion by Andy Sadler, seconded by Ron Davis). The Judges Report was approved after presentation (motion by Steve Milz, seconded by Danny Finley).

City Administrator Lee Horton introduced two resolutions. The council voted to accept a portion of the tax revenue proposed by Scott County after brief questions addressed by City Attorney Scott Horman; the vote carried with a majority in favor and Councilmember Ron Davis noted his vote was cast "with protest." The council also voted to accept property containing the old Food Giant building from Hubbard Construction; that resolution passed with all present voting in favor.

All motions noted in the minutes passed with councilmembers Ron Davis, Andy Sadler, Steve Milz, Danny Finley, Tara Golightly and Eric Seyer recorded as voting in favor; Ryan Pobst and Mark Perkins were listed as absent in the record. No formal amendments or post-vote conditions are recorded in the minutes.

The meeting adjourned with the usual note that minutes are not yet approved and can be obtained from the City Clerk's office at 222 W. Yoakum.
