Princeton approves MOU with Gibson County to expand emergency response team

The Princeton Board of Works voted July 6 to enter a memorandum of understanding with Gibson County to expand the city's Emergency Response Team (ERT).
Bobby, an agency official who led the presentation, said the city’s prior MOU with Vincennes expired and the partnership had not reliably provided personnel for trainings or deployments. “When we do trainings here, sometimes we only get one of their guys... We try to keep seven people on the team. When we started, we're at five right now, so we're adding two more of our own people to that team,” Bobby said. He told the board combining resources with the sheriff's office would increase capacity ‘to roughly 14 to 15 total’ members and could make the team eligible for additional grants and equipment funding through tiers defined by the National Tactical Officers Association.
Bobby said the MOU to be executed would mirror the city’s prior arrangement with Vincennes but change the partner to the sheriff's office; he said the signed MOU would include his signature and the sheriff's signature, pending board approval. A motion to approve the MOU was made and seconded; the board approved it by voice vote.
The board did not discuss specific grant names or dollar amounts during the recorded discussion. Staff said the larger team would improve response capacity and training consistency across county and city jurisdictions.
