Board approves amendment to Westler design agreement for lift station phase 2

The Princeton Board of Works voted July 6 to approve Amendment 1 to the Westler design agreement for phase 2 of the TMI/TMMI lift station.
Justin, the project presenter, told the board the change reallocates bid-phase fees into the design phase because the project is moving to a BOT process rather than a traditional bid phase. “The only thing that's changing is because we are doing the BOT process and not a bid phase. We're moving the bid phase fees over into the design phase to cover the BOT work that we're doing,” Justin said.
Justin said the total amount for the project was included in the original agreement but had been split into two phases; the amendment combines those lines so the design-phase invoice reflects the BOT work now being performed. Board members asked whether funds would be due earlier; Justin and the Chair said the timing of payments would be about the same. A board member noted the line moving is roughly $19,000 from the original bid phase and that the combined total the board has previously authorized is approximately $510,000; staff said the expenditure is part of an existing grant and that a little over $2,000,000 remains in grant proceeds tied to the program.
Bruce McIntosh moved to approve the Westler amendment; Sherry seconded. The board approved the amendment by voice vote.
The board recorded no roll-call tally in the meeting transcript. Staff said the amendment is an accounting/phase change rather than an increase in the total contract value; the project will continue under the same grant funding previously approved.
