MIDDLETOWN — At its Feb. 3 meeting the Middletown Common Council approved a package of routine but consequential items: multiple five‑year lease agreements for space at the RM Keating Historical Enterprise Park, an appointment to the Planning & Zoning Commission, a recognition of a longtime veteran, and a water‑and‑sewer appropriation.
Leases and amendments approved included five‑year agreements with Coughlin Service Corporation (4,700 sq ft), Horizon Counseling & Outreach Center, Inc. (900 sq ft), Empowering Heart Therapy LLC (540 sq ft), Macho de Barber LLC (540 sq ft), and an amendment expanding Cloak Tactical Performance Physical Therapy from 1,000 sq ft to 2,050 sq ft. Council members asked the administration for a comprehensive report on tenant rent status and defaults going forward.
The council also unanimously approved a $160,000 appropriation to the water and sewer fund to cover various unpaid bills from the prior fiscal year; the director of finance certified funds were available. Emily McEvoy was appointed an alternate member of the Planning & Zoning Commission for a term through Nov. 9, 2027.
Councilwoman Jeanette Blackwell read a resolution recognizing retired Master Sergeant Anthony J. Gonashaw Sr. for his military service and civic leadership; the recognition was adopted unanimously and members paused for photographs.
