Supervisors adopt SB707 policy for remote‑access disruptions during Brown Act meetings

The Marin County Board of Supervisors adopted a policy June 9 to implement state Senate Bill 707 procedures for disruptions to remote participation in Brown Act meetings.
Assistant Clerk Carla Kacmar said the policy requires continuous monitoring of remote access (Zoom), a documented good‑faith restoration effort when problems arise, and authorizes the board president to recess the meeting for up to one hour to restore remote connectivity. If service cannot be restored, the policy sets a decision pathway for whether to continue, recess further, or reschedule.
Supervisor Sackett moved the resolution and Supervisor Colbert seconded; the board adopted the policy.
The clerk’s office said the policy formalizes monitoring practices already being used and will help preserve a clear record of restoration efforts when remote access is interrupted.
