Johns Creek officials sworn in; Erin Ellwood elected mayor pro tem and two judges reappointed

The Johns Creek City Council began its Jan. 12 session with an oath of office ceremony and brief organizational business.
Judge Donald Schaeffer administered oaths for council members and the mayor. Council members sworn in included Duleep Tungki (post 1), Bob Aramelli (post 3) and Larry Dibiase (post 5); Judge Schaeffer then administered the mayoral oath for John Bradbury.
Mayor John Bradbury offered New Year remarks, said he looked forward to the council’s next four years, announced an MLK event at City Hall Jan. 19 at 9 a.m. and noted plans for an enhanced Independence Day celebration tied to America’s 250th anniversary. "I just wanna say how much I look forward to our new city council term," the mayor said.
During organizational business Council member [name recorded in the motion] nominated Erin Ellwood for mayor pro tem for the Jan. 2026–Dec. 2027 term; colleagues spoke in support of her experience and questions skills, she accepted and the council voted to elect her mayor pro tem.
The council also voted to reappoint Donald Schaefer as chief judge of Johns Creek Municipal Court and Jenny Wynne as associate judge. Several council members praised the judges’ fairness and efficiency during remarks recorded on the public record.
The council completed other routine items, moved to an executive session to discuss land, legal and personnel matters and adjourned the public meeting.
