At the Feb. 2 meeting the Edgewater City Council approved a series of board appointments and reappointments across several advisory bodies. The votes covered the Recreation & Cultural Services Board, Planning & Zoning Board, Economic Development Board and the Firefighters' Pension Board; most measures passed by roll call.
Applicants introduced themselves during the public comment portion when requested: Marangeli Rodriguez (applicant for Planning & Zoning) thanked the council for consideration and cited prior planning experience; Dwight Cunningham introduced his background in geography and urban planning and Safe Routes to School coordination; Bob Andropovics (appearing as a reappointment candidate) described 12 years of service on the Planning & Zoning Board and requested correction of an appointment date in city records.
Council members discussed residency requirements, the value of experience, and the range of applicants before making motions to appoint or reappoint candidates. Several council members emphasized the importance of Planning & Zoning experience and local knowledge for board members. The council approved the recommended appointments and reappointments by roll-call votes.
