Library director reports wiring updates, new accessibility signs and program plans at Plympton meeting

At the April 9 meeting of the Trustees of the Plympton Public Library, Director Mike Slawson reported several operational and program updates.
Slawson said Western Mass Electric had updated and organized the building’s wiring and would provide a map of wires and switches; he noted the library may need to add another Wi‑Fi access point in parts of the building to strengthen signal coverage. He also told trustees the new Demco signs purchased under an accessibility grant have been put up, and “patrons have already mentioned how helpful they are.”
The director reported challenges replacing the library’s 3‑D printer: vendors prefer payment by credit card rather than by purchase order, complicating procurement through town procedures. No procurement resolution for the 3‑D printer was recorded in the minutes.
On programming, Slawson said summer reading planning is underway with a dinosaur theme for children and an America 250th theme for adults. Trustees seeking re‑election (Rebecca Archambeault, Jonathan Mulcahy and Colby Leoncio) were noted and told they may run as write‑ins if they were not on the ballot in time.
The trustees accepted the minutes of March 5, 2026 and adjourned at 6:39 p.m.
