Board tables 7th/8th grade teacher contract pending ADE test; conducts first readings of multiple policies

The Tonto Basin Elementary School District board on July 14 tabled consideration of a 7th/8th grade teacher contract after Superintendent Mrs. Warren said the candidate must pass a teaching test on July 17, 2025 before the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) will issue certification.
Mrs. Warren recommended revisiting the contract after the candidate completes the test. Board member Ms. Robin Holt and Mrs. Shawna Morris raised concerns about qualification and discussed the possibility of using paraprofessional Lacey Ewing to start the year if the candidate is not yet certified. The item was placed on future agendas for follow-up.
Separately, Mrs. Warren conducted first readings of a series of district policies (PA 744''PA 908); these were presented as informational first reads and no action was taken during the meeting.
