The Tonto Basin Elementary School District board on July 14 approved terms and conditions to pursue a Building Renewal Grant (BRG) project focused on weatherization and HVAC upgrades. Superintendent Mrs. Warren said the district is still one to two years away from a full weatherization project and that interim evaporative cooler replacements will be pursued to help reduce extreme gym temperatures, which are currently reaching about 92 degrees.
Mrs. Warren said she contacted the School Facilities Board to obtain quotes and that Service Plus will provide an emergency bid as a stopgap measure. She told the board that the interim work would not come out of the regular district budget and would not affect the scheduled larger weatherization project. Mr. Sterling Thomas moved to approve the BRG terms and conditions; Mrs. Laci Sopeland seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
