Tonto Basin board hires paraprofessional Lacey Ewing to fill vacated paraprofessional role

The Tonto Basin Elementary School District board on July 14 approved hiring Lacey Ewing as a paraprofessional to work primarily in the kindergarten classroom, including support for a special needs student.
Superintendent Mrs. Warren said Mr. Page is not returning, and the intent is for Ms. Ewing to fill that vacant paraprofessional role; she added the district will assess whether one paraprofessional will be sufficient and, if not, will consult with Eugene about additional hires within budget constraints. Mrs. Shawna Morris moved to approve the hire, and Mrs. Laci Sopeland seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The board recorded no public comment on the hire. The district will monitor classroom needs as the school year begins and determine whether additional paraprofessional hires are necessary.
