Sagadahoc Commissioners elect leadership, adopt 2025 mileage rate and appoint members to committees

The Sagadahoc County Commissioners elected Commissioner Charles Crosby as Chair and Commissioner Stephen August as Vice Chair during their Jan. 14 meeting.
Commissioner Stephen August moved to nominate Crosby as Chair; Commissioner Todd McPhee seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Crosby then moved to nominate August as Vice Chair; McPhee seconded and that vote also passed unanimously.
The board unanimously appointed Commissioner Todd McPhee to the Maine County Commissioners Association (MCCA) Risk Pool and Executive Board and named Commissioner Stephen August to the County’s Space Needs Committee. Administrator Amber Jones noted the planned introduction of the County’s new IT director, Devin Field, was postponed because Field was out sick.
The Commissioners also voted unanimously to adopt the IRS suggested mileage reimbursement rate of $0.70 per mile for 2025. Several administrative items were tabled or deferred, including signing the 2024 annual report letters (to allow formatting for individual signatures) and the jury bathroom renovation project, which remains under negotiation pending written assurances from the Maine Judicial Branch about their promised 50% contribution. The bathroom project estimate discussed was $12,603.
The Board scheduled an additional meeting on Jan. 21 for an executive session on personnel and confirmed February meeting dates (Feb. 18 and Feb. 25 during budget season). The meeting adjourned at 4:58 p.m.
